Cosmetic maintenance…for 10 year olds?

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/health/30525815/detail.html

I just ran across this article from my home town TV station about a Newport Beach plastic surgeon performing cosmetic procedures on his young (and I do mean young!) daughters. Breast implants at 18, surgery to change a bellybutton at 10, etc. The most concerning of these procedures, however is the regular Botox and “other cosmetic procedures,” defended by the surgeon as maintenance procedures to prevent aging. There is nothing wrong with maintenance procedures to slow the visible signs of aging. In an adult. Different story when it comes to children who need to be hearing from their parents (of all people!) that they are great just the way they are. Unconditional parental love in childhood is the foundation for later psychological stability. Giving your kids the message that they need medical intervention to keep looking pretty…well, that seems awfully unhealthy to me.

When can I consider a plastic surgeon experienced in a specific surgery?

I’m planning to have chin lipo. I’ll ask the doctor how many chin lipos he performs a year. What number is considered to make the surgeon experienced?

You want someone experienced, who gets great cosmetic results and who listens to you specifically. The surgeon should be able to show you a series (more than 10) of his/her before and after images of chin lipo specifically.  So, if these look good and he/she does this procedure regularly (a few times per month) and you get the sense that he understands what you want exactly, then this person should probably be your choice.

Post Rhinoplasty Kenalog Injections to Reduce Scar Tissue.

6 months post tiplasty and today my doc injected my tip with Kenalog.
My doc said I had unwanted scar tissue and that is why he injected my tip with kenalog. When will it start working and when will I see improvement? He said he wants to see my again in 6 weeks.
Pls advise,
Thank u
Post rhinoplasty Kenalog injections are very common to reduce unwanted scar tissue. It works well, but the effect takes a few weeks. For some people one week, for others it takes four weeks to see a difference. Some people need one injection and others need two or three. Sounds like you are getting good advice.

Ablative vs Fractional CO2 Laser for Skin Resurfacing

i have ablative co2 laser last 12 months ago on one cheek called silk touch co2 laser, it kind of made my cheek pale, iam interested in having active fx for my acne scarring, is this treatment ablative or is it fractional,
what is the difference, i dnt want to be left with even more white skin

The Active Fx is a fractionated CO2 laser, designed specifically to avoid the kind of hypopigmentation that you describe. Instead of vaporizing an entire layer of skin, the Active Fx works by punching microscopic holes with untreated skin around the holes. Healing is faster, easier and scar tissue formation is minimized. If you are treating acne scars, however, I would recommend using the Deep Fx head as well as the Active Fx head during your procedure. Acne scars are notoriously difficult to treat, so the combination treatment is more effective.
