Non invasive laser and light based treatments have advanced to the point where they provide outstanding results without the pain, swelling and down time of traditional surgical laser resurfacing. They are also more affordable and accessible to the common person. Through experience, Dr. Rivkin has found that certain systems are safer and more effective than others. Despite the considerable hype that each new system generates when it hits the market, new laser technology does not necessarily mean better laser technology.
We use the Soprano 810 Diode system with IN Motion technology for laser hair removal. The Soprano is the first and only pain free permanent hair reduction laser. Instead of delivering short, painful bursts of intense energy, it heats the hair follicles gently as the laser head moves continuously across the skin. The results are the same industry gold standard hair reduction you would expect from an 810 Diode laser. The average patient needs 3 to 6 sessions to complete hair reduction.
We use the Lumenis Lume One IPL systems for our photofacials. This system works great to eliminate pigmentation irregularities and rosacea. The system also has a 1064 YAG laser to treat spider veins on the legs.
For those clients who desire a reduction in pore size and a bit more sparkle to their skin but are not yet ready for the downtime of a fractionated laser, we are offering the Clear and Brilliant laser. It is a no downtime, mild laser treatment that is best thought of as a really intense microdermabrasion. It is the perfect solution if you have an event at the end of the week where you want your skin looking its best.
For facial spider veins and more severe rosacea, we have the V Beam laser. This is a specialized vascular laser and is the industry gold standard for treating veins and rosacea. Downtime is minimal – a day of mild redness and most people need about 3 treatments for best results. We are also using this laser with great success to treat bruising after filler and Botox injections. It dramatically reduces the duration and intensity of a bruise so it is barely noticeable the next day.
For laser resurfacing, we have the Fraxel Restore fractionated Erbium laser and the Active FX / Total FX fractionated CO2 resurfacing laser. The Fraxel is an excellent low downtime laser that delivers great results in a series of 3 sessions, spaced about a month apart. There is about 3 days of redness and mild to moderate swelling after each session, perfect for a long weekend of recovery. The Active FX / Total FX is a more intense one time treatment with 7 days recovery. After the treatment, redness, moderate swelling and peeling are common. The skin recovers quickly and you can count on looking no worse than if you had a sunburn about a week after the procedure. Each resurfacing technology does a great job reducing pore size, eliminating fine lines and improving the appearance of acne scars.
