Beautiful film stars then and now
Here is a great video showing some of our most beloved and beautiful film stars then and now. it is a nice illustration of what happens to our faces as we age. there are changes in weight with some and wrinkles develop where there was only smooth skin before. but to me what is most striking is how the face changes shape. almost all of these people had faces that were oval shaped, especially the women. the cheeks and areas around the eyes were most prominent in their youth. the focus point of the face was on the eyes. that shifts as they age and their faces become more bottom heavy. fat, muscle and bone thin in the middle area of the face, it gets hollow and shrinks. the lower face, on the other hand, becomes heavier from tissue descending down and from the skin becoming less elastic. the net effect is a shift in the focal point of the face from the eyes down to the jowls or the mouth. we are programmed to interpret that shift as a sign of age. my job, day in and day out, is to restore that lost volume and restore the oval of the face. i refill the cheeks, reframe the eyes and slim the lower face using fillers, botox and energy devices. this lifts the focal point of the face back up to the eyes and makes my patients truly look five to ten years younger in fifteen minutes. this kind of procedure is what we call a non surgical or liquid facelift. each person has different ways that they age, so the procedure is customized to each individual.
