Profound is an energy-based minimally invasive treatment used to regenerate collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin. Collagen and elastin provide the support and structure that the skin requires to be healthy, elastic, and plump. This revolutionary procedure tightens, lifts, contours, and smooths the skin—all without having to “go under the knife”. Profound delivers bipolar, non-ablative radiofrequency energy to the dermal layers of the skin through microneedles, creating tiny thermal injuries at a precise depth, temperature, and duration. These thermal injuries stimulate the production of collagen and elastin by the skin cells. While the full effects will be visible at 6 months post treatment, patients consistently report noticeable tightening and plumping of the skin 2 months after the procedure.
With a single treatment, Profound has shown to have a 100% patient response rate for improvement of wrinkles and a 95% patient response rate for improvement of skin laxity / tightening.
Profound can be used on all areas of the face and body. On the face and neck, patients have reported:
On the day of your Profound treatment, topical numbing cream will be applied to the area to be treated for approximately 30 minutes. Afterwards, your skin will be cleaned and numbing medication will be injected into the area to be treated to prevent pain during the procedure. The procedure takes approximately 1 hour, depending on the areas to be treated. At the completion of the procedure you may notice swelling and bruising from the needle insertion points. Expect to have 7-14 days of downtime post procedure which will include bruising and swelling. We advise patients to avoid blood thinners (alcohol, aspirin, fish oil, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications) 3-5 days prior to procedure (unless required for medical conditions) to decrease bruising. Arnica Montana can also be taken before and after the procedure to aid with bruising and swelling. We provide another topical product to patients post procedure to help reduce bruising and swelling.
deal candidates for the Profound procedure are those who desire lifted and contoured cheeks, jawline, and neck through a minimally invasive procedure. Those with excessive skin laxity will have some limitations to their outcomes. The procedure is not recommended for dark skin types due the risk for hyperpigmentation.
The patient will need to be able to allot 7-14 days for downtime post procedure. Come to our office for personalized evaluation to determine if Profound is right for you!
