Get more information about non-surgical blepharoplasty vs traditional eyelid lift procedures.
Non-surgical blepharoplasty is a safe, non-invasive alternative to traditional surgical blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Dr. Rivkin has pioneered many non-invasive alternatives to cosmetic surgery procedures in order to provide excellent cosmetic results with little to no pain or recovery time in Los Angeles, California.
Traditional blepharoplasty can be an intimidating procedure, which frightens many patients away from improving the look of their eyes. It can also be cost prohibitive.
Dr. Rivkin’s Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty is a simple injection procedure where he uses Juvederm or Restylane along with Radiesse to fill in the under eye hollows and eliminate the dark circles that they cause. Non Surgical Blepharoplasty avoids many of the complications that are typically associated with traditional blepharoplasty.
Surgery always carries inherent risks including scarring, infection, and anesthesia complications. Traditional blepharoplasty involves an incision in the eyelid and can result in significant visible scarring or uncomfortable scar tissue. There is also the risk of damage to the eye itself, hematoma, and drooping of the lower eyelid.
Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty avoids all of these surgical risks. The only adverse effect of the procedure is occasional bruising, which resolves within a few days.
Recovery from traditional blepharoplasty typically lasts two weeks and involves significant pain, bruising, swelling, and eye irritation. Contact lenses cannot be worn during recovery. Strong pain medication, cool compresses, eye ointments, and eyedrops are often needed to make the recovery process bearable.
Recovery from Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty is usually immediate. There is no pain during or after the procedure and swelling is minimal, lasting a couple of days at most.
The results of traditional blepharoplasty are irreversible and typically last for many years, but your eyes will continue to age. This long-term effect is good if the results are good, but in many cases, blepharoplasty surgery can leave the eyes looking tight or stretched.
If the blepharoplasty is over-aggressive, you may get a hollowed-out look under your eyes as your face ages, because excess tissue has been removed. The most frequent complaint with surgical blepharoplasty is that the natural eye shape is changed after the procedure.
Results last up to four years. Juvederm or Restylane in the tear trough area stimulate significant collagen growth and the effect here lasts much longer than any other area of the face. Although these fillers last for such a long time, they can be dissolved at any time with an injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
The enzyme breaks up the filler and the body absorbs it within 24 hours. This is what makes the non surgical blepharoplasty procedure so risk free–if you do not like the effect at any time or if there is a bit more swelling than we want, we simply use the enzyme to reduce the filler.
Because the results are relatively temporary, adjustments can be made as your face changes over time and you always retain a natural look. As you age and the fat under your eyes disappears, Juvederm or Restylane can be used to replenish the missing volume. Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty does not change the shape of your eye and you never develop the hollow-eyed appearance that some surgical blepharoplasty patients get.
On average, traditional blepharoplasty runs about $2,500.00, and in some parts of the country as high as $4,000.00. This does not include hospital and anesthesia fees that can both be higher than the cost of the surgery itself. Subsequent to surgery you will have prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medications, which will be additional costs.
Dr. Rivkin’s Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty costs $1250–$1600, depending on how much filler needs to be used.
